Thanks for using Feeling Lucky Fixer. Other than installing the extension, you don't need anything more to fix the address bar problem of OpenDNS. Extension will bring back the default keyword browsing usage to Firefox. All you need to use extension is typing a keyword in location bar that describes your visit site best (e.g. yahoo mail) and pressing Enter.
In case another extension spoilt your settings (this will be actually a rare case) you may have still problems about keyword browsing. If so, you can send your case description as comment to help me provide you extension support.
I am a college student who tries to afford his life and college expenses by coding. I am on the way to collect next year's tuition. If you help me on that I will be really grateful.
Hope the extension helps. Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteExtension works for general. Maybe your Firefox is problematic or some other extension spoilt down your settings. If you dont provide any information I cant help you.
ReplyDeleteUsers having problem: Please provide your operating system name and firefox version while commenting so that I can try to create a workaround for your case.

ReplyDeleteA splendid addon... :-)
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to set the firefox address bar to automatically default to the word typed in (*) and the default firefox address bar extension (*.com) or any extension of your choice (*.net/*.org/*.tv)?
For instance,
I want to type bearhug in the firefox address bar and automatically goto
bearhug.com (or another extension of choice).
With the Feeling Lucky Fixer extension enabled it auto directs me to bearhugger.net (not a criticism of the extension).
Any input appreciated. :-)
Cheers

Hello.
ReplyDeleteExtension sends your keyword to Google. Then Google checks it and finds a suitable site for your keyword in its database and redirects you to that site. That suitable site actually is the first search result site on a regular Google search. Google bearhug and you will notice the first search result site is bearhugger.net. So finding the appropriate site is actually related to Google.
But you can create a shortcut. Visit bearhug.com and with CTRL+D bookmark it. Then right click newly created bookmark. A pop up will appear. There is a keyword input area. Type there bearhug and save it. From now on you can navigate to bearhug.com by typing bearhug in location bar. Same method can be used for other sites and keywords that Google doesnt retrieve well.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou :)

thank you, this is going to save me so much frustration
ReplyDeleteAlmost completely awesome, but looking through the comments for examples to try, when I try to type bearhug, I get a time out page. It seems to work fine with most stuff I try, that is the first example of one that doesn't
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions? I am running Firefox 3.5.4 in Windows 7
Hello. I have checked bearhug keyword and it returned http://bearhug.com/.
ReplyDeleteFeeling Lucky Fixer is a solution for OpenDNS Guide page hijack. Timeouts are a DNS problem that is beyond of the extension usage.
Sometimes OpenDNS behaves differently for different oses. You should not actually get a timeout page for a keyword. You should report this issue to OpenDNS support.
thanks, this is perfect for me.
